Yeah, I occasionally buy stuff from the iTunes store. It is mainly for those occasions where I just want one or two tracks from a CD, or when I just can't wait a moment to get hold of whatever it is.
I would prefer to buy CDs in general (for reasons others have stated here - rip it myself and always have the original to fall back to). However, it has to be said that the range of music available in local music stores is now dire. Last time I wanted a CD I trailed all around town and wasn't able to find a copy. Actually there were very few places that offered anything which wasn't a recent release. I got home and, bought it on iTunes and a few seconds later I was listening to it. By the time I add the travel expenses to that trip into town and the time it took for a fruitless search it seems to make more and more sense to buy from iTunes (or similar).
Sure I could order the physical CD online, but then I'm going to have to wait a few days. When it's something I really want to hear that can seem like an unsufferable delay
The other thing I often do is buy downloaded music direct from the websites of the artists concerned. _________________ My Flickr |

| I feel about the same way Squonk. I still prefer buying CDs, but it's becoming more and more of a hassle. Then again, maybe iTunes is just making me lazy. |

I like buying music from iTunes as its less hassle than the music store; but now I'm into movies as I have most of the music CD's I care about. _________________ Retired: Altair 8800, PET, TI 99/4A, Apple II

I still buy from iTunes and will continue. Now that there is no more DRM, I can play the songs on my Droid as well. _________________ 2.5 GHZ i5 Mac Minu 8Gb Ram

I will freely admit that buying from Itunes has stopped me from 'downloading' elsewhere. Now I have a pretty big ltunes library that replaces those old files. I just happen to find Itunes easy.
I also like having the ability to just buy the songs I like, but can come back and buy something later from the same album if my tastes change.
I do have an Amazon account as they one day sent me a credit for a purchase, which led me to look for a few songs that Itunes doesn't carry, but Amazon did.
It's nice having the option of both. |

| Hey, I have a question. Is there an application or something out there that does a quick comparison of iTunes vs. Amazon pricing on a particular track or album? To be honest, I haven't used Amazon that much to buy music or movies. |

I'm with you on this.
I like the idea of owning & holding it in my hands.
A lot of the CD's eventually become collectors items.
That's another good reason to go with CD's.
