Apple has released new Canon, Brother, HP, and Lexmark printer drivers for Snow Leopard via their Software Update utility and website. According to the company, these downloads contain the latest printing and scanning software for Snow Leopard. More information about the printers they support can be found here. All four of the updates require Mac OS X 10.6.1 or later.

I got a new Mini, 2.53, a couple of weeks ago and have a Canon MX850. I downloaded the latest drivers from the Canon Website after emailing them and asking precisely which driver I should download for SL.
Software Update shows the new drivers for me but gives no further information and Canon has not posted anything new in the past 6 weeks.
Personally I'd really like to know what and why I'm installing something rather just blindly following Apple saying I should do it.
Is there way to find out what this new driver update is for? The Apple website gives absolutely no information on this. |

I'd assume it's the latest available over and above what you have installed at the moment.
Similarly, I installed an HP printer a couple of weeks ago - the latest version of the drivers. A few minutes ago I did my reboot, as the printer driver update spotted my HP drivers and wanted to update them. I didn't query it, I just figured they're available for a reason and must be the latest.
My software doesn't seem all that different, but then again I had the latest version prior to it, so have considered it a 'point release'. _________________ iPhone 4 16GB

| Well I'm reluctant to install the update to the HP drivers. Every time I do this it breaks scanning from my C6180 yet when I install the latest drivers direct from HP scanning works. Go figure. |

| I just get the driver from Canon for my Pixma. I never even bother with these updates. |
