| I'm not an extreme power user, but I think anything over 4GB is a waste or money. It doesn't matter it being a Mac mini, iMac or Mac Pro. It's probably more important for a server though. |

This is great news. But I would still sell my mini for a new iMac before I spend $400 on memory.

yeah that's really why Apple probably didn't market it. Because they sell 4GB Kits for $600 or more. Its impossible to market it. When you basically in a New iMac category with memory that can take up to 16GB. Also it may be best for users who want to use it as a HTPC. I believe the Mac mini Server can do that. Putting 8GB in that I feel should be fine because you will constantly streaming. It should boot to 64-bit so it will take full advantage of it. _________________ 24" LED Cinema Display,Mac Mini '09, 2.0GHz,

I have to say that I am quite glad that the mini's are able to use 8GB. I was going to hold off on upgrading or even contemplating getting a MBP, but this has cemented that I will upgrade the mini.
But I will be waiting for the price of the sticks to drop before investing. _________________ 13" MBP 2.4GHz, 4GB, 250GB

I run three Minis as servers. The oldest is a 1.66 Duo with OS X server 10.4, 1 GB of RAM and the original 60 BG drive. It serves 6 web sites from a colo facility and has been trouble free since 2006.
It has never run out of memory and the speed of the drive has never been an issue.
Just mentioning for comparison to all the grumbles about what the new mini server doesn't offer. |

Yeah people been using these things as servers since the G4 plus media servers. I want to get a 65" Samsung LCD Flat panel and use this as a media center well as computer for web surfing with Safari, but I wait till I move before I do that and hopefully Comcast here offer their Extreme 50 (50Mbps Downloads with 10Mbps Uploads) that $99.99 a month! That means download HD TV Shows from iTunes will take 5 minutes! _________________ 24" LED Cinema Display,Mac Mini '09, 2.0GHz,

Nice. A 2.66GHz 8gb Mini is a big Mini. Glad to see Apple not holding out on the Mini anymore. Hope these new models keep the sales going. Long live our Mini!!! _________________ Mercury TiBook 400MHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Airport

Yes, hopefully the Mac Mini server will go over big in the small business/education market, the only one MS has not dominated, and that will encourage Apple to keep the Mac Mini going. I LOVE THE MAC MINI! It is an amazing little tiny box. |

I never really bought into the rumors. I always thought the Mac mini was here to stay in one form or another. The server model just solidifies it even more now. |
