Candelair Fixes Apple Remote Under Snow Leopard
Friday, October 23, 2009

Growing tired of the Apple Remote conflicts in Snow Leopard with the likes of Boxee, Plex and Hulu Desktop? Well, we have some good news to report. IOSPIRIT today announced the release of Candelair. It's a free alternative driver for the built-in IR receiver in your Mac that provides a global fix for the Apple Remote issues many users are experiencing with third party applications under Snow Leopard. It's based on the same driver they use with Remote Buddy and comes packaged in a preference pane that presents all remote control options at a glance. I've been using it myself for the last hour and everything seems to be working like an absolute charm. So thanks a million IOSPIRIT, problem solved!

It sounds promising, especially being from Iospirit. I can't wait to get home and give it a try. Maybe I'll even reinstall Snow Leopard on my main HTPC mini again this weekend. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

I would like to see Apple fix the issue as well, but this seems to do the trick just fine. Looks like a I better break out that Snow Kitty disc again. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

| This gets a big thumbs up from me! I'm not really into the HTPC thing, but I've been bugging out with Hulu switching over to Front Row all the time. |

| Will this fix work with the new Apple Remote or will that one undo it all I wonder. Also, I assume with the new remote, Apple will fix Front Row since they said the new remote works with Front Row. Perhaps that is waiting in 10.6.2 for release. |

I would assume the remotes are basically the same beyond the design change and button locations. |

| Works good, but has anyone noticed their USB drives mounting slower after installing this? Mine do for some reason. Like maybe 10-15 seconds slower. |
