| I was thinking about using the MacBook Air SuperDrive with the server. I know it's more expensive, but the coloring and form factor are going to be a better match with the Mac mini. Don't have to mess around with an external power supply either. |

It's a much better build quality than the Samsung as well. It's listed as an option in the apple store so you also know they'll support it for use with the Mini. |

Undoubtedly. I'm trying to read a little more about the noise levels. It shouldn't be an issue, but that's my only concern. Then I'm just going to wait around to see if they get the refurbs back in stock. If they don't get one soon, I'll just grab one from Amazon. |

this works with the server. only 50 bucks. |
Apple is also pushing their external Air Optical drive for use with the Mac Mini server, so it must be compatible now. Any one know how or what they changed? |

There's a post under the Air SuperDrive on the Apple Store that the drive only works with the Mac mini server, and not other Mac minis.
That said, the poster may not have known what they were talking about. |

I could be wrong, but I kind of remember reading something about one of more recent Leopard or Snow Leopard updates adding support for the MacBook Air SuperDrive on all Macs. At least with one made this year. Plus, there isn't much of a difference between the two Mac minis beyond the server model going sans SuperDrive. It's gotta work on both of them. |

| I agree. How could it possibly tell the difference? The hardware is the same. If it works on the Server, it MUST work on the other two OCT 09 Mac Mini's as well. |
