Wow, this is great this is great for laptop users. I assume the mini's with the display port could also be hooked up. I don't know why you would do this, but hey it's pretty cool. |
I saw this as well today somewhere. What are they calling it, Target Display Mode?

I'm not too sure what they are calling it.
This will definitely help increase iMac sales fro those who are afraid to buy AIO. Of course they should have included this on the lower end models as well. If your iMac starts getting old you can hook up a mini or a Macbook and not have to buy a new display.
It would be interesting to know if the iMac display will operate if the logicboard craps out. |

I actually saw that yesterday on the iMac site. I'm not sure how you switch it over, but I guess it just uses the Mini DisplayPort for video-in. That would also be cool for like a Blu-ray player or PS3 if Apple allowed audio through the Mini DisplayPort. Oh well, just another example of Steve hating on Blu-ray.  
BTW: Ordered a new keyboard Bandit. I guess the only difference is that it uses two batteries now. |

The keyboard is pretty good on batteries. You might through a couple sets a year, even if you type quite a bit.
BTW it takes 3 AA's |

I meant the new one released yesterday only uses two AA batteries. I believe the aluminum one you have uses three, right? I think that's like the only difference. Please correct me if I'm wrong gang.

| I didn't realize Apple released a new keyboard. I'd be glad to know the difference. Perhaps it is more environmentally friendly via less battery usage. Based on Apple's trends, this wouldn't surprise me. Hopefully the battery life is better. 3 is an odd number. That in itself mean a lot of waste in extra packaging and the 4th battery out of a package going who knows where. |

I didn't realize there was a new keyboard either. 
I don't know how it compares battery life wise, but having one less battery is definitely a good thing for the environment.

| They apparently have put some smarts into the keyboard so it idles using less power when you are not typing, then "wakes up" again when you press a key. That way the two batteries last a lot longer than the previous model. |

This is a stupid question, I'm sure. But am I to assume all the new iMacs use 64 Bit Technology. I know they can take up to 16GB's of Ram, so I guess that means 64 Bit. But in none of the Documentation does it say 64 Bit anywhere. Is it just assumed at this point on, so they don't mention it, since it's a given. Maybe I missed where it says so. Educate me Guys!
