erm ? actually its 10:24 am at the moment
You may have been right on the timezone Charles, although I don't think the 1 hour summer time error would account for all the posts being marked read. _________________ Phil

| It's cookie and session based to remember user information. I will talk in private about other ideas. Sorry to be short, but I'm on my way out the door. |

I had an issue where my bookmark to 123mm and other sites were of the "newest posts" functionality. Going to the various forums so often put it in Safari's Top Sites, which quickly meant I was visiting the sites briefly every time I opened safari, and messing up the new messages.
Disabling them from showing up in top sites resolved it. |

nice one Wedge
I nearly missed your post because it was marked read already, but thankfully I've started to get in the habit of looking at the date and time markers.
I think you might have hit the nail on the head there. I never even gave top sites a thought as I rarely use it, but it does load briefly when I start safari as you mentioned and that would definitely account for it.
Weirdly though this is the only forum I have the problem with even though top sites does have 5 other forums in its main page.
Just removed the forum from showing on top sites, and also stopped new windows and tabs from starting with the top site view and I see how it goes.
Thanks for the suggestion _________________ Phil

Wedges suggestion seems to have done the trick.
I've not had any problems with the new post markers since I removed 123macmini from Top Sites _________________ Phil

| Glad to hear it. It stymied me too when I first installed Safari 4. |
