| I started to configure a Mac mini server for fun and noticed they offer the MacBook Air SuperDrive as an option for going external. Did I miss something about that drive becoming compatible with other Macs? I was under the impression that it didn't work. |

This is now my biggest gripe against Apple HD offerings in the mini, macbook and at least the small macbook pro. I don't need a high capacity drive, but I want a decently performing one and I can't get it in a 5400 rpm model. I have a 1.83 ghz C2D mini with upgraded RAM and a 7200 rpm internal drive. This feels noticeably faster to me than my new 13" macbook pro, which has a 160 gb 5400 rpm drive and 2 gb RAM. The Seagate 7200 rpm drive I put into my mini made a big difference and it's only a matter of time until I put one in my macbook pro. |
Exactly I just learnt about this in my computer organization class. Harddrives make a world of a difference compared to a cpu upgrade. _________________

I think the addition of the Mac mini server was a brilliant move, but that case just doesn't look right. I'll deal though for $999. I mean, that's a really good deal for something coming with Snow Leopard Server. _________________ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro/4GB/320GB HD

| The new Mini server seems pretty cool, makes it almost tempting to replace my WHS. ...but I won't anytime in the near future. |

I was just thinking the same thing about my MediaSmart. Then I started thinking about having one with a Drobo and now my head is spinning. |

It took me so long to decide between Drobo and WHS, and now we have more choices ...nice |

I've been buying Apple and PC computers since the MITS Altair 8800 and I've always followed one rule: get the fastest processor you can afford in any model configuration you buy. Works for me! |

We're gonna need a new forum... The Mac Mini Server! After the first of the year, I'm gonna have to think hard on an HP Windows Home Server or the Mac Mini Server. I noticed that Apple is showing a 4 TB RAID solution on the Mac Mini Server page as an accessory, for those complaining about storage space in a server configuration. This is gonna be a dynamite product for schools and other small groups that need collaboration but don't need a $5,000 price tag server solution. |

I think I'll hang onto my 2GHz 4GB Early 2009 model since these 5400RPM drives are NO match for my OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD.
