Apple Intros Magic Mouse
Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Posted by: Glenn
Apple today introduced the new wireless Magic Mouse, the first mouse to use Apple's revolutionary Multi-Touch technology. Pioneered on iPhone, iPod touch and Mac notebook trackpads, Multi-Touch allows customers to navigate using intuitive finger gestures. Instead of mechanical buttons, scroll wheels or scroll balls, the entire top of the Magic Mouse is a seamless Multi-Touch surface. Magic Mouse comes standard with the new iMac and will be available as a Mac accessory at $69.

| Doesn't this effectively turn the mouse into an external touchpad? I've always preferred a mouse over a touchpad so I'm not sure if this is an improvement. Don't know if the gestures are enough to win me over. |

| Well it has touchpad features, but still can operate as a movable mouse with a position sensor. I like having both features better than either by itself. ordered one already. here's some mo' money Mr Apple. |

Strollin, I kind of feel the same way. It should be interesting to see exactly how it works though. Will probably stick with my Microsoft wired mouse (I'm in love with this thing, haha). _________________ 1.5ghz Mac Mini (Upgrade), 1GB of RAM, 80GB HD

I am SO getting one, tired of breaking my current wireless "mighty" mouse apart to clean the track-ball. Then super-glueing it back together... _________________ --Marcus

The multi-touch sounds cool, but it I agree with Blazer. I think it looks way too flat. I like a mouse that cups into your hand more.

| I personally like flatter, arched mice fatigue my hand faster. I'm hopin' I like it, but there were definitely things about the Mighty version I didn't like either. |

Sounds neat, but I would have to try one before ordering. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I think you'd want it as flat as possible for the multi-touch gestures. Oh well, I can't wait to give one a try. The old Mighty Mouse is on its last legs. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

This new mouse may look flat from above, but actually it doesn't if you look from side it's pretty curvy! (you can see the images or video at apple site.) |

| Anyone see the dimensions of it? I don't see a spec sheet per se. |

| I never liked a mouse with a straight edge on the sides. Very uncomfortable for me. I wouldn't mind trying one though to see if its the same feel. It looks great. |

I just asked the same question about the new remote. I really think Apple needs to start listing this information for the smaller stuff. |
