Telestream has announced the release of Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.3.0.11. This beta version of the software includes support for Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Microsoft Silverlight. It also includes the following improvements and fixes:
- Audio encoding and decoding is now handled by CoreAudio.
- Components now support multi-threaded applications.
- Added 64-bit support to the WebKit plugin and the Flip4Mac WMV Preference Pane.
- Opening WMV files from the Finder now finds the latest version of QuickTime Player.
- Local files now import in the background by default. This can be changed on a per-application basis in Flip4Mac WMV Preferences > Player > Advanced.
- Miscellaneous bug fixes.
Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.3.0.11 weighs in at 19.6MB and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

Every time I try to open this app, I get a message saying that "Quicktime Player must first be installed on this computer" ... which it most definitely already is! Any ideas?

Find a .wmv file on your hard drive>Right click (ctrl-click) on the file>Choose "Get info">A new window will appear>in that window, click on pull down menu under "Open With:" (if there's no pull down menu there, click on right pointing arrow to the left of "Open with:", the arrow will turn down and the pull down menu should show up)>Choose "Quicktime Player">Wait until the "Change All..." button becomes active (it'll be no longer faded)>Click on "Change All..." button>Close file info Window.
Enjoy! _________________ "You can't have a light without a dark to stick it in." - Arlo Guthrie

| I'm doing much better playing WMVs with this beta. The standard release seems to get like confused sometimes. |
