That's just Snow Leopard. All of the 64-bit system applications are super fast now. They basically open within single bounce. I can hardly wait for a 64-bit iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie. |

Me too. I guess it's just for the Optiarc drives that zedtvl mentioned earlier. |
My Mini with the Hitachi HDD ans the Pioneer Super Drive is so silent I cannot hear it starting the only way to tell is the light.
The other one is terrible between the rattling noise of the HDD and the Optiarc Super drive.
Since this firmware update the Superdrive does not make noise at startup but it still makes one when the computer wakes up from sleep.
What I do not understand:
I got this one 8/29/09 I tried to do the firmware update which adress the issue with the RAM, it did not showed up with the software update and when I downloaded it manually when the package was openend a message told me thet the firmware was up to date, I am getting confused. _________________ Mac Mini i5 2.5 GHZ, 16GB Ram.

It might have shipped with the new firmware. Open System Profiler and look under Hardware Overview. If the Boot ROM Version says MM31.0081.B06, you don't need the update. The Mac mini already has EFI 1.2 installed. _________________ Brian

It ends in a one Tony. |
Thanks! ( I might need to get my peepers checked. ) |
Nah, your computer is just mixing in roman numerals.
After installing the EFI update, has anybody noticed a performance increase? My Mini seems snappier. |
I feel more snap with this firmware update. The whole thing feels better overall for some reason. |

You're waiting for an EFI firmware update from UPS? You may be waiting a while...

Actually Snow Leopard ironically came at 3:59pm. Now that over with who put 8GB DDR3 in the Mac mini to see if this update let you do it? _________________ 24" LED Cinema Display,Mac Mini '09, 2.0GHz,

8GB appears to be a no go. Here's the response from OWC.
| Quote: | | It no longer kills the machine when more than 4GB installed... But it’s not actually addressing the memory. Performance testing and then diagnostics confirm only 4GB max being actually utilized. |
