Apple Launches iTunes Store in Mexico
Tuesday, August 4, 2009
Posted by: Fran
Apple today announced the launch of the iTunes Store in Mexico with a selection of Mexican and international music from all the major labels and hundreds of independent labels. Launching with a catalog of millions of songs, the iTunes Store in Mexico features Mexican artists like Paulina Rubio, Fernández and Zoé and a wide range of international artists including Shakira, Lady Gaga, Green Day and thousands more. Apple says most songs will be priced at 12 pesos and most albums at 120 pesos. The App Store and podcasts are also available, but nothing was announced in the way of TV shows or movies at this time.
"The iTunes Store in Mexico is off to a great start with music from all of the majors and hundreds of indie labels," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of Internet Services. "And the revolutionary App Store in Mexico gets bigger and better with great new apps using amazing new features, and we can't wait to see what developers come up with next."

And then went on to say, "A long as it doesn't compete with what we're doing or include porn. Good luck getting it approved then señor."
I can't believe the people down in Mexico are just getting the iTunes store. I kinda thought they had it already. |

I wonder if they had to pay people off to be allowed to do business in Mexico. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

Yeah, the mob-ish record companies. I'm thinking they were reluctant to enter the market. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

Previously if you had clicked on the iTunes store it would say something like "Sorry the iTunes store is not available in your country...." _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

That doesn't prevent you from ripping CDs, downloading other music and the using the torrents.

No doubt. That being said, I think Mexico had the App Store already running. They could probably get into the store, but just for downloading applications. I could be wrong though. _________________ 2009 Mac mini with 500GB/4GB

When your phone company is Taco Bell, it takes time to get these things organized.
