That sucks. Perhaps it is the TV and the eMac would have lost synch if given more time. I would go back to the stage of hooking the eMac up. You need to know for sure that the TV is solid.
I would only change one thing at a time until this issue is solved.
ie. hook up emac to TV, connect bootable drive to eMac (with iTunes and OS X on bootable external drive) If it all works out well, then move that drive and cable over to the mini and connect your mini to Apple TV in the same manner. Preferable via ethernet (no matter how much of a pain in the butt it is.
Now you may have other plans in mind and I respect that. Just keep in mind that you should only make one change at a time. In your case you may have to wait 3 days to a week after each change to solve your issue.
Remember when troubleshooting... Knowing what works is just as important as knowing what doesn't work. Some people don't really care what the problem is and they just want things to work so they make too many changes at once or replace everything. This isn't troubleshooting. You don't learn anything by it, and issue may replicate themselves.

Yes it does suck! We're thinking the same here because I already have it to the eMac & that machine already has the same entire iTunes Library loaded on an external LaCie Firewire Hard Drive, so I don't have to really change drives around. And...It's synching fine. Of course the Videos are slow to load streaming to TV wirelessly on Airport "B". But I'm keeping it hooked this way until the inevitable happens. If it does not lose Synch on the eMac, then I would finally have to question my Mac Mini. Again Mac Mini is plugged via Ethernet to my router, so you would think it would be a more consistent & stable connection. YOU WOULD THINK! Maybe TV doesn't like that I'm using Ethernet from Mac Mini iTunes to a Router? I'm thinking crazy here I know. But at this point ANYTHING is possible, right ? L.O.L. At least I feel I'm not alone in this. Your helping me! Thanks!

Just to kind of put an end to this on going thread. What I think caused my Synch problems between iTunes & the Apple TV is a Port Conflict. USB to be precise. It could be a combination of other things as well but I have since replaced my Belkin Router with Time Capsule & so far iTunes & Apple TV are synching seamlessly regardless of what USB devices I plug in. So all in all, we shall see. I learned a lot from this long & very frustrating Troubleshooting process & I want to thank BanditBill for sticking with me till the very end & for not thinking I'm crazy! Thank you Phillip also.

BanditBill was on it! He mentioned it to me & then after synching for 2 days straight, I plug in my Digital Camera USB & the ATV icon disappears in iTunes right before my eyes. I then duplicate the process a second time & it disappears once more. I then try plugging my Thumb Drive to the same port & it does not lose synch. Maybe the Camera draws a lot of Power. I now have Time Capsule as my router and tried it again & it seems to be OK. It doesn't make sense why port interference would improve with a new router. But maybe the Gigabit Ethernet is a more Solid connection. At this point, I'm not saying ANYTHING to be a definite!

I'll help you make sense of it .
The interference is still likely there, but now it is less of an issue because of the new set-up. It could be that the gigabit ethernet is transmitting fast enough that the interference does not cause the TV lose synch or the new equipment is using different transfer protocols.
I'll give you an example:
Let's say I'm iTunes and the message I want to get to TV is "0110 0011". I send my message through my courier named "Time Capsule". Just to make sure that "0110 0011" is the correct message Time capsule asks me to repeat the message a few times. All of a sudden Dino rudely interrupts by plugging in his digital camera. Now the message repeat reads "1111 1111". BUT... Being gigabit ethernet is 10 times faster I actually already got the message of "0110 0011" 9 times before the erroneous "1111 1111" message got to me.
Nice try Dino, but my new buddy Time Capsule is too quick for you. You and your little girly man camera will never defeat us again. Yah, that's right.
note: this isn't exactly how data communication takes place.  |

I'm laughing here! Thank you for giving me a good laugh. I need it at this point. I love your idiot proof explanations. I hate to admit it but they work for me. So the problem is still there, it's just that Gigabit Ethernet is way ahead of the Game, so it's not messing things up. Hey if that is the case, then I am fine with that. Thanks for the 96th Time!

Just to let everyone know. The Apple TV has been synching Solid for 5 days Solid. I think BandiBill's explanation above this Post says it best!

Good to hear that the connection has been solid for so long.
Hopefully the issue will never resurface, even if we didn't resolve the root of the issue. Sometimes not having the symptoms is good enough. As long as things remain the same (your network/software). You should be fine.
I remember many times as a technician performing maintenance, upgrades and improvements only to introduce new issues. Sometimes well enough is best left alone.
We know you though Dino, if anyone can come up with issues., you'll find 'em. You might want to consider changing your user name to "Black Cloud" |

That's very funny. But I will try & explain why I have so many mishaps to all who read this post. I use my Mac Mini like most people use their Mac Pros & iMacs. I'm CONSTANTLY burning something, creating Movies in iMovie & iDVD. Using Garage Band to create Music, ripping CD's & DVD's. And I'm doing all this for a large portion of the day. Plus I have an external LaCie d2 DVD-RW, a MyBook Firewire Hard Drive, A Maxtor USB Hard Drive, the External iSight, A USB Powered Hub & A Belkin Firewire Powered Hub. Not to mention a Griffin Powermate, My iPod Dock, my Apple Bluetooth Keyboard & Bluetooth Mighty Mouse. And they are all hooked up to my Mini, So I'm really giving this little guy a workout. And get this. With only One Gig of Ram. (I Know I need 3 or 4 Gigs, it's coming. But I can't thinking of cracking open my virgin mini. The thought makes me panic. But getting back to my explanation, I really do need a Mac Pro or at least an iMac for what I'm asking the computer to do. But I've learned a lot in a year & a half by Trial & Error & people on this site like you. I've made some friends here. You, Bobaloo, Hackersmovie, Phillip, Usarcher & many others that have helped me through. I hope this explains. I'm a Media Nut! I know some people use their computers for email & surfing the net. Not me! If Apple is including iLife in a Mac I just bought, I'm utilizing every program I can. That is why I'll never go back to PC. Hardware & Software made by the same company & included with the computer when you buy it, is a no brainer. It took me a while jump onboard but this is one space ship I'm never getting off!
