Monday, June 1, 2009
Posted by: Charles
Apple has released iTunes 8.2, QuickTime 7.6.2 and GarageBand 5.0.2 via their Software Update utility and on the Web. According to the company, iTunes 8.2 now supports iPhone or iPod touch with the iPhone 3.0 Software Update. The update also includes many accessibility improvements and bug fixes. The QuickTime 7.6.2 update includes changes that increase reliability, improve compatibility and enhance security. This update is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users.
Apple also released GarageBand 5.0.2 today. This update addresses general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and fixes a number of other minor issues. The issues addressed include improved purchasing experience for Artist Lessons in the GarageBand Lesson Store and accessing installed Jam Packs in the loop browser. GarageBand 5.0.2 is recommended for all users of GarageBand '09 and required to use the Lesson Store.

Time to bring on the new iPhone! I'm ready to upgrade from the original.
This could be in my head, but I think iTunes 8.2 feels a little faster than before. |

| It looks like iTunes 8.2 does include support to fetch Blu-ray data from Gracenote. I really hope this means that full support is on the way. |

Why didn't they just put breaks palm syncing in the release notes? |

I think it feels faster every time there is an update then after awhile it goes back to slightly glitchy out of nowhere for me. I still love it though. |

Anyone else have a two-color equalizer? Top third light gray, bottom two thirds a darker gray. It doesn't appear to be intentional. _________________ Mac Book 2.1 Ghz (Penryn) 10.6.2 4Gb DDR2

I have the same thing. It looks like they might have "Aquafied" it on purpose. I say they should bring back the old one though. The line going across is a little distracting.
EQ with 8.1.1
EQ with 8.2

Exactly like mine. It does draw attention, doesn't it? _________________ Mac Book 2.1 Ghz (Penryn) 10.6.2 4Gb DDR2

Like I said before, I find it to be distacting. It draws my eyes up to the line. It also tricks them into thinking the line represents the max level. Especially when your sliders are under the line. This is actually the type of stuff that has me worried about Snow Leopard and the so-called marble look. |

| It looks like someone forgot to apply the gradient filter correctly. |

| I don't play around with the equalizer much, but that looks stupid. |

I've just updated to 8.2, no change on the EQ for me. Same as previous version. _________________ iPhone 3GS 32GB

Aside from the EQ iTunes has changed the way it deals with iPhones and iPods. Jailbroken phone users should not update to 8.2 if you want to use P'wnage and Quickpwn. _________________ 2.0GHz C2D (2009)

Really? That is strange now.
I'm going to update my old G4 now and see what happens. |

| I installed 8.2 on both of my Mac minis last night (first install was on a MacBook Pro) and the gradient for the EQ was normal. It looks like Apple might have played the old switcheroo on us with the download. I can't believe something like that would be dependent on the video card or an error during the install. |
