Hello,

Im soon going to be purchasing an iMac G5 and will be using it for all sorts of applications including playing games.

Obviously i want to be able to hear the games with the same degree of quality as the visuals and i dont feel that the iMac's built in speakers or sound will do that.

So, are there external soundcard options that are compatible with the apple macs?

Is there anything similar to the creative labs soundblaster series, albeit externally mounted rather than some pci card?

Would it be useless having something like that because, whereas pc games take advantage of such things as EAX, mac games dont because hardly anyone has the ability to use them?

Thanks for any advice/information posted.

Why don't you use the iMac's optical digital audio output? The sound quality should be really good. You could also take a look at the M-Audio Transit.

When you say two-speaker are you looking for a 2.1 or 2.0 setup? I like my Z-3s. They're now called Z-30s I think and they come in white. The Ceature 2s are also popular and very good sound quality. Those are both 2.1s. If you're looking for a 2.0 setup, you can't beat the Klipsch Ultra 2.0. They're pretty much the best 2.0 setup for a computer you can buy. For only $100 too.

the creature II looks cool aswell.

and ive never heard of klipsch so i'll get onto google asap. thanks for that.
