OS X DVD Player SUCKS! There HAS to be SOMETHING better. I'm spoiled by POWER DVD on the PC. And VLC is pretty bad too.

You should be able to play DVDs using Quicktime and DiVX, possibly WMP.
Maybe it'd help instead of saying DVDPLayer = teh Suxx0r you say what you don't like about it. Maybe there are solutions to your problems besides switching programs. _________________ Computer Engineer

Hello,
I was reading about DivX and saw that DivX version 5 doesnt work properly with Tiger.
Apparently it has issues and should be avoided until DivX 6 comes out.
(i dont think its out yet) |

OK, I have the 64 meg vid memory & just upgraded to 1 gig ram and DVD playback is VERY jaggy. I'm playing on a 17" monitor at 1024x768 and the picture from a ORIGINAL disk (Star Wars II) shouldn 't be so rough. The edge detail of a lot of scenes instead of sharp, crisp is a smeared streaked line. I think it's called anti-aliasing? There are few adjustments available in DVD Player. MPlayer requires the DVD file to be on the harddrive to ply (or at least that's the ONLY way I can get it to work). Like I said, i've been spoiled by Power DVD with the incredible picture adjustments and choice of audio formats (DD, DTS).
I LOVE my MINI, i'd just like to get a good DVD playback software (or one that works well for me).
END of RANT! *grin*
