Apple Updates White MacBook

Apple has quietly updated the white 13-inch MacBook. The new model features a 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo processor (up from 2.0GHz) with a 1066MHz frontside bus, 2GB of 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM (up from 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM), 160GB hard drive (up from 120GB), and integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics. The rest of the specs for this model have pretty much remained the same. The new white MacBook is available now from the Apple Store and priced at $999.

I would more than likely buy one if they still came in black. It's actually spec'd out slightly better than the entry-level unibody MacBook.

| It's probably the best deal from Apple if you can look past the white plastic. I just can't look past it. They get so dirty looking after a few months. |

Apart from the unibody's DDR3 RAM.

Oops! I totally forgot about that one. Oh well, I'm thinking the unibody MacBooks will get updated at the WWDC anyways. Perhaps even with built-in 3G networking.

Agreed about unibody updates, but for right now:
white = DDR2 + firewire + a tiny bit thicker/heavier
unibody = DDR3 + no firewire + $300 more |

Thats come at a good time, at least for a friend who is looking to buy one. However, it not available in the UK yet.

That's strange, but I bet they were in a rush to get them over here for the back to school iPod promo. I would imagine they will be available over there shortly.
I'm also with you guys on bringing back the BlackBook. I was never crazy about the white MacBook to begin with. It sort of screams chick or school kid computer. |

| I think you might be looking at the only MacBook after WWDC. I have a feeling that Apple is going to merge the aluminum MacBook and MacBook Pros into one MacBook Pro line. And hopefully they wake up at that time, make some room, and give the 13" MacBook Pro a firewire port. I know the white MacBook only has firewire 400, but at least it has something to offer people needing a connection for firewire camcorders and audio devices. |

I'm so glad I got the black one when I did last summer. Its a 2.2 and has been great for a year. Got it as a refurb, threw in 4GB RAM and a 320GB HD and have about $1400 into it after all that.

No surprise there. Too bad they don't make them in black anymore. But if anyone wants one that badly, they could always put a skin on it.
