I've been using Boxee for quite some time and love it. It's a bit ugly, but it's very solid. So I was all amped up about this new version of Plex, because it looks so much more polished.

... And I gotta say, that Plex is still clunky for me. It has way, way too many options to pass The Wife Factor. Even for me, I got lost very quickly. For starters, what is the difference between "Watch Your Videos" and the "Watch Your TV Shows" section? The TV Shows has no options for adding sources.

Hmm, ok, so I try that inside the Watch Your Videos section. There's the option in there to add sources and select type as TV shows, but no option to scan folders recursively. There is the option to scan recursively if you select the source as Movies.

Plex began to download meta, but wow, radically off! I think because all my downloads were TV shows, it tried but failed pretty hard.

Once a source is added, I can't find any way to edit the source type.

Then it crashes repeatedly when I attempt to remove any of my sources.

What I love about Boxee is that this is all done in the background automatically. It really defeats the purpose in Plex that I have to do all that setup by hand.

It's a shame, because I could tell right away that Plex's AC3 passthrough is a lot better than Boxee's. And it's playback UI is much better designed than Boxee's.

Plex handles the Menu button of my Apple Remote better than Boxee. That's a weird thing to give kudos about, but it's true. When I first started using Boxee, I found real quick that click Menu wasn't always intuitive. I would back out of a movie I was watching by accident. Plex is more intuitive with its button handling.

Oh, and Plex bookmarks where I left off with videos! This is great! Boxee doesn't do that, shame.

My $0.78. Thoughts? Am I crazy?

Does Plex Media Server work on G5 iMacs?

My plex is running on Intel Mac mini but all my iPhoto & iTunes media is on my G5 iMac. I'd like my Intel Mac mini to access the medias that are on my G5. Can I do this through Plex Media Server?

I tried installed Plex 0.7.8 but it seems that Plex isn't compatible with G5s..??
