Refurbished 2009 Mac minis Now Available
Friday, May 15, 2009
Posted by: Charles
Apple has begun offering refurbished early 2009 Mac minis in the Apple Store for the first time. This includes the 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo Mac mini with an 8x SuperDrive, 120GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics for $499, and the 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo model with an 8x SuperDrive, 320GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics for $699. Both models are covered by Apple's one-year limited warranty and include free shipping. I don't know how long they will last folks, but at least we know the price points and to keep an eye out.

Even though I shouldn't have, I scored one of these today.
Memory and hd on the way as well...my summer project. _________________ Mercury TiBook 400MHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Airport

I've been procrastinating because I hate buying stuff. Well, this tipped the scales and I have my very first Mac on order. Once I get used to the new OS and tinker with Plex for a while, I'll order a memory upgrade (wanted to get familiar with the base model so I can appreciate the upgrade).

| When they update the Mac OS X, do they usually included it with the refurbs? I never bought refurbs from Apple before. This is really a good deal. I still have the 2.0ghz version from the last gen of mac mini. I am really happy with it but this pricing makes it really appealing to get the new one. |

I think mine came with the latest version of OS-X back in November so I'm inclined to think yes, it's up to date when you get it.
I'm a big fan of the Apple refurbs. I've bought a refurbed mini and three iPods (2 classic and 1 nano) for the kids.
Nothing but good experiences. |

I am surprised to see that they are still here (which is good for us).
Until now all the Mac Mini on the refurb store were gone in few hours
Is there an explanation? _________________ Mac Mini i5 2.5 GHZ, 16GB Ram.

It could just be a sign of the times. Sales aren't as brisk as they used to be. That said, it looks like the $499 model is gone for now. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

Dang! I've been waiting for weeks and missed it. I hope they get the $499 refurb back in soon. |

Check out this old post from ClunkClunk. I did the same when looking for a MacBook last year. This may help in your search. _________________ Mercury TiBook 400MHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Airport

Thanks! That's a neat idea having the RSS feed sent out. I've just been checking everyday after work. I haven't been able to check for the last few days though. I've been on duty almost non-stop this week. I'm actually a medical resident at Vanderbilt University. |

Just your luck, when you don't check thats when they appear...usually the same with me :/ They're very random when they post them, just keep checking. They seem to like to add to the store early in the morning, usually around 3am pst, but thats not always consistent. Good luck!!! _________________ Mercury TiBook 400MHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Airport

Well, I can't wait to get one. The Mac mini is actually going to be used for relaxation. I'm going to connect it to a 37" LCD and use it as a mini media center. I would just buy the regular retail version, but I'm looking to save a few bucks here and there. I still need to buy an Elgato tuner, wireless keyboard and mouse, and external hard drive. |

It is weird because they came thursday morning pacific time, you could not get them, no option to add, and suddenly it became possible to get them.
I always go at least once a day to check the refurb store when I want to get a new computer. _________________ Mac Mini i5 2.5 GHZ, 16GB Ram.

| They still have the "high-end" Mac mini for $699. I doubt that configuration is ever going to do well for Apple, even as a refurb. I think they needed more than RAM and the hard drive separating the two machines. It should've had the 2.26GHz C2D or higher and included the Apple remote or something. Oh well, I'm waiting for Snow Leopard anyways. It's nice to see them become available though. I would definitely be jumping on the $499 refurb if I didn't already own one. |
