Atebits today announced the release of Tweetie for Mac 1.1.1, an update to their popular Twitter client for Mac OS X. Don't let the version number fool you though. The Tweetie for Mac 1.1.1 update includes many improvements to the application. This includes the following changes and enhancements from the previous version:
- Per-account notification preferences
- Growl support
- Save searches
- Mark all as read command
- Trends auto update
- Repost syntax option (for RT)
- Improved error handling
- Tweaked tweet display
- 64 bit
- Detect links starting with "www."
- Improved support for links with parenthesis
- Fixed $AAPL style links
- img.ly, pix.im support
- Remember last selected tab per account
- "Go to User" username autocompletion
- Improved direct messages UI
- Update to use fresh Twitter APIs
- Tooltips for compose window keyboard shortcuts
- Improved key window handling after post
- Option to disable menu item
The Tweetie 1.1.1 for Mac update weighs in at 2MB and requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later. According to the developer, this is also the last day users can buy Tweetie for Mac at the introductory price of $14.95. Starting tomorrow, the regular price of $19.95 will go into effect. If you're short on cash, there's also an ad-supported version of Tweetie for Mac that you can use for free.

| Nice update! I'm glad that it supports Growl and Pixim now. |

| Tweetie has a slick interface, but is there a way to see or control your followers from within the application? I think that's an important feature to have. |

I'm glad you can get rid of that hideous icon in the menubar. The rest is just a bonus. |

I haven't played around with Tweetie much, but I think it just throws you out to Safari. I know you can with Nambu though. Personally, I think Nambu is the best Twitter client out there anyways. It's also totally free without ads. |
