Thursday, April 23, 2009
Posted by: Glenn
The Plex team has announced the release of Plex 0.7.15, an update to their popular media center software for Mac OS X. This release adds a couple features to improve the music experience within the application, including a new Now Playing visualizer (shown below) and Shuffle item on the context menu. It also includes support for ratings in Plex Media Server content, new iLife art, and a bunch of other minor fixes and improvements. You can view the entire list of changes here. Plex 0.7.15 weighs in at 99.2MB and requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

How about increasing the font size when scrolling through tv shows/movies/other content? I"ve gone to system, preferences... can't find it. I can only change the font itself, not the size.
Cheers,

Go to Change your Preferences -> Skin -> Home. Make sure Show Weather is turned on. Once that's turned on, you'll have a Weather option on the main page. Then you can select Weather and make your changes. |

Supposedly they increased the size of the default fonts, but I don't see much of a difference. It must have been a really small increase.

Turns out there was something wrong with my iTunes application, module or whatever they are called. It wasn't even showing the new iTunes background image or art. I ended up reinstalling Plex and everything is working fine now. I must have sounded like an idiot before because the new "now playing" screen is right there. |

It could be the color scheme, but that Now Playing screen looks like something out of CenterStage or MediaCentral. I just don't think it looks that great. I like the concept though. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

The weather on the menu is turned off by default. Go to Preferences -> Skin -> Home and enable Weather. Then on the main menu select Weather and you will see a settings button. Select your city and then hit reset and you'll be good to go.
EDIT: Just saw that it was already answered. Oops |

You'll find it under Preferences -> Music -> Visualizer. Change the setting to Now Playing. |

As long as they are not itunes DRM videos you can watch them just not through the iTunes source. You have to add them as a regular video source. They will be adding support for embedded metadata in video files in the upcoming library redesign. Right now though you can't use your embedded metadata, you'd have to scan the files into the library. |
