The Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.7 and Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.4 updates contain improvements to enhance security and performance. I hope this update addresses slow startup time of Office 2008! I've been waiting for two years for MS to do that. Office 2004 actually starts up faster than 2008 on an Intel Mac. Evil or Very Mad

I don't notice any performance gains with Office 2008. It seems to open and run about the same as before.

This is fine with me. I've wanted to try Office 2008 for quite some time.

Cool!!!

And not so cool i was hoping that microsoft would not release a trial version it is now only a matter of time before someone figures out how to hack it.

Not really all that good.

Also remember that office 2008 communicates with the internet when you launch it the first time.

I just applied the update to my Intel iMac. It seems to speed the startup a bit, but it still takes about 10 seconds the first time it's run after startup.

I'm not switching from iWork, but I shall give it a try. I just want to see how it compares with 2004 on my MBP.
