Collins America today announced their line of CinemaView LCD displays with a native Mini DisplayPort. The diecast aluminum and glass displays are sized at 19 inches with a 1440 x 900 resolution, 20.1 inches at 1650 x 1050 and 24 inches at 1920 x 1080. All models come equipped with a three-port powered USB 2.0 hub, passthrough stereo audio jack and an all-in-one cable for connecting everything to your Mac. The CinemaView displays should begin shipping in the United States and Europe before September 1st, with prices starting at $299. According to the company, orders from the first production run will also receive free shipping.

| Specs look good, design is gorgeous... but 19" for $299? Ouch... if money isn't a concern, I buy it...waiting for more companies to come out with ones using the mini DP. I think I will wait.! Would look nice with mac mini though... very similar to HP's LCD. |

It nice to see someone fill in the Apple holes, but man, those are some big black bezels. The glossy bezel on the 24" Cinema is the part that really annoys me too. It's like looking in a mirror. Why can't we just go back to a flat black and matte world?

| I still think Apple should be making a 20" or 22" model in the $400-$500 price range. I don't know why they gave up on those sizes altogether. |

| I like the overall design, but that bezel does look a little wide on the 19 and 20 inch models. I've never heard of this company either. I wonder how long it will take the Samsungs and Viewsonics of the world to come out with Mini-DP displays? I doubt that Dell ever will. |

Take that Apple! 
I think they look great. I would just be worried about pre-ordering something from a company with no apparent track record. So I will pass for now. |

$500 for 24"?
For some reason that sounds high, though I cant quite remember what I paid for this Samsung 22" a year ago...
Two years ago, however, I bought a 32" LCD for the bedroom for $750...

Not compared to $900 for the 24" Apple display.
It's a little premature to judge the value in these products until they are reviewed. There are 24" monitors that are more than $900. There are also 24" monitors for less. Typically you get what you pay for.
The same can be said for televisions. Some are big and inexpensive, but they are plain garbage. |

That's not horrible for a 24" LCD, but you can buy a really nice Dell for under three bills these days. |

| I could be wrong, but these smell a little like vaporware. Having said that, I really like the design. It's a shame they don't have a built-in webcam and speakers. I would almost think about buying one if the reviews were positive. |

I think Apple could be doing better price wise with the new 24", but that's a fair statement. I'm also with Huff on coming out with a smaller model. I'm starting to kick myself in the ass for not getting another 20" Cinema. Having two match up with one of the new Mac minis would have been nice. Oh well, I might be able to pick a used one up or something down the road. |
