Apple today introduced the new iPod, featuring a gorgeous 2.5-inch color screen which can display album artwork and photos, and play stunning video including music videos, video Podcasts, home movies and television shows. The new iPod holds up to 15,000 songs, 25,000 photos or over 150 hours of video and is available in a 30GB model for $299 and a 60GB model for $399, with both models available in stunning white or black designs.

The new iPod plays music, audiobooks, audio Podcasts, video Podcasts, home movies, music videos and popular television shows like “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives.” The unrivaled combination of iPod and iTunes 6 now provides customers with a seamless experience for buying, managing and playing video as well as audio content, including over 2,000 music videos, six short films from the Academy-Award winning Pixar Animation Studios, and five television shows from ABC and Disney Channel, including the immensely popular "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives."

The new iPod combines all of the ground breaking features that have made the iPod the best music player in the world with revolutionary new features such as the ability to view video content on a larger stunning color display. I would buy it if someone tells me there´s gonna be some kind of antenna device, so I can watch the entire 2006 World Cup at work

When the Nano came out and replaced the Mini, I kind of wondered why they didn't bump the Mini's hard drive capacity, because even 4G is kind of marginal.

But this thing's even thinner than the Mini. If they didn't drop it hen, they'd have to dump it now...

Hmmmmm, my inital thoughts...

Don't see it on the spec, but does the Video iPod output to a larger screen?
I could see buying one if I could carry movies/TV shows around and watch them on something bigger than a 2.5 inch screen (eg. TV or LCD)

Also, if I can burn my CDs onto my iPod using iTunes - can I burn my DVDs to my new Video iPod...?

There's probably a ton of money for anyone who can get this thing to talk to Tivo....

Think I'll wait a few months to see the feedback from the inital release before looking to buy one.

You can create compatible videos, yes.

It will output to a larger screen, but it's still limited to QVGA resolution.

I'm kind of disappointed with that resolution. My Sony Clie has a higher resolution screen than that, and it only cost $130. It's almost the same width and height, too... a bit thicker (0.7i, same as the iPod Mini), but a lot of the difference is the touch screen, the rim around the screen to protect the touch screen, and the cover of the battery compartment... if the screen was flush and the battery bulge was gone it'd be at least .2i thinner...
