You could connect them via a network hub and turn on file sharing, or you could connect them with a single firewire cable using one as a firewire drive.
In the latter case, you would probably want to use the G3 as the fw drive. While it is powered off, you would connect the firewire cable to both machines, then turn on the G# while holding down the "T" (stands for "target" as this is called a "target drive connection") key on it's keyboard.
Here's a page that discusses several methods of transferring files:
http://www.leisterpro.com/doc/Version8/Answers/movingFiles.html
As far as which method is the "best" it just really depends on what works for you.
As an aside... just in case you're wondering if you can just copy your entire set-up from the G3 to the Mini... OS and all... the answer would be "no." And even if you could figure out a way to do it, I wouldn't recommend it. |

If it's a beige or Blue and White it does not support target disk mode, Now network via firewire works, very well in fact. _________________ 1.42 mini 1GB RAM with superdrive |

I too have a beige g3 and will be moving files soon. No firewire on the G3 though--any way I can do this with an Ethernet cable?
Oh and the beige has OS9.whatever so I can't make a network with my DSL router---correct?
If all else fails I have a smartmedia card that holds a few hundred mb, he he. |
