I found a kramer firewire 800 hub 3 ports 85 bucks. does anyone know of a different one? this will come in handy with the new mini but 85 bucks is a lot.

here is the kramer company link
http://www.kramerelectronics.com/indexes/item.asp?name=VS-30FW3
Overview
The Kramer TOOLS VS-30FW FireWire 800/1394b Repeater / HUB:
Is a 3 Port IEEE 1394b 800Mbps (S800) Hub that also supports legacy
FireWire speeds of 400Mbps, 200Mbps, and 100Mbps (S400, S200, S100). In
fact, you can connect several devices with different speeds, and the VS-30FW
will bridge the gaps!
Does not require any setup, and also supports hot swapping
Has 3 Bilingual IEEE 1394b connectors1
Is powered by an external 12VDC power supply, or via a FireWire
connection from a PC
The VS-30FW is based on FireWire which:
Is a serial bus standard2 that enables quick universal interfacing between
video and computer hardware items3
Is simple to use and operates independently of the host system, letting
you connect more items than you otherwise could (as a computer only has
limited ports available), and for extended distances. Several can be cascaded
to create up to a 63 port FireWire Repeater / HUB
Supports Plug and Play4, and isochronous5 and asynchronous applications
Achieving the best performance means:
Connecting only good quality connection cables, thus avoiding
interference, deterioration in signal quality due to poor matching, and elevated
noise levels (often associated with low quality cables)
Avoiding interference from neighboring electrical appliances and positioning
your VS-30FW away from moisture, excessive sunlight and dust _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

I picked the kramer firewire 800 up from B & H photo. from what i see and hear of the new mac mini with the two upgrades I did.
a 2.0 added 4gb ram and a 500gb hdd. and a 2.26 added 4gb ram and a 500gb hdd.. a firewire 800 external will be really good to have. I sold my ministack v3. if anyone has one they should test it with the new mini ..
I think the way to go is get a fast hdd like a wd scorpio black with 250gb 7200rpm hdd or a hitachi 320gb 7200rpm hdd. then stack it with a good 800 firewire drive
we could use some real world tests of 800 firewire drives. if anyone out there reads this post and can do an 800 firewire test for us please do so.
With the sans digital 2 bay m2sci enclosure you get a 1/3 to 1/2 reduction . 1/2 the time to zero a drive out and 1/3 off cloning a drive.. erase time on a wd250gb was 60 min not 120 min. clone time of 17gb osx files was 24 mins not 37 mins. I cloned the osx so it may be faster with itunes or a click and drag of a movie. I will click and drag a 180gb itunes file next week with 800 wire and 400 wire to see how fast it does that. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram
