Usarcher,
Do you think the smallatv.dmg was not a valid copy ?
I'm stressing here!

Dino1956 | Well I am going to do some digging around but this is directly from the document from the smallatv.rar,
"This is a single file working "FULL" restore of a AppleTV.
Restore image is based on 2.0.2 and all you have to do is DD it to an empty HD.
After that do a restore/recovery from within AppleTV..
Made from a 60GB hd, but just restore and ignore any errors.
Only the first 2GB, the rest is the Media partition, and AppleTV will recreate it on a restore.."
Maybe it is corrupt, when I am at work tomorrow I will try to put it on a fresh hard drive, don't have one at home I can test it on. Check in with Tony to see if the copy he downloaded is any different from mine. |

After the Restore & the Error Message, when you go to check Hard Drive, there is nothing On the Hard Drive. Blank.
Yea, sounds like it should have worked from what you said !

I just double checked & even though it put no Files on the Drive, I connected it just to see. Now I'm back to the Flashing Question Mark.
I was able to get an "Apple" with the other guys Instructions & his Apple Updater 2.0.2 File. But I had to NOT Erase the Entire Disk for his Method to Work. I guess it's a shame I did not follow his method first, because his Apple Updater File loaded perfectly and put a bunch of Folders On the HD. But again, IT looks for the missing efi & other Files I prematurely Erased.
Do you know a Link where I could go to find more about the Disk Utility Method ? _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

Here is a link to rebuild the partitions on the hard drive. Like I said before I don't have a drive I can test this on me, will grab one from work tomorrow.
Let me know if you can understand the link's instructions, I know you are not fully comfortable with the terminal yet. We will get through this don't worry |

Ok those Terminal Commands I can handle. The problem now is in Terminal it's saying the HD is not disk3 ! It is disk 3 in System Profiler & Disk Utility. That is the BSD Name. But Terminal doesn't take it. I just finished an hour long scenario of Terminal that did not work. This process is much simpler. I can do it if I could get Terminal to recognize where it is. I erased HD and Verified HD. All is Good. Nothing wrong with HD ! Why does Terminal not know it's disk3 ? Can you get on iChat ? If your busy, it's Cool. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD

Usarcher,
Unfortunately it did not work. But I have to thank you for trying so hard. I do appreciate it! I don't know why. I get the Apple on the screen and every 20 Seconds it just keeps trying to reboot. Nothing I do on the Remote changes anything except Holding Menu plus Minus, makes it reboot. So the Remote is working. I thought this would have been simpler. If you find out anything new, let me know.
Thanks again.

I'm not giving up on you yet Dino, we'll get it going sooner or later
I will try to experiment at work today if not I will bring a spare drive home with me. I think the updater you have might need to be updated, we will see. |

I just installed Transmission on my Mac. Getting the original OS -dot 1.0.dmg. With my DSL Internet speed it'll probably take 2 days to get. It's 190 MB's.
I still have the same Partitions in tact. Did not erase anything. I did try again to restore to the smallatv.dmg getting that same error message.
Again, I do appreciate you going out of your way & making such an effort. Thank you. _________________ iMac 27" 3.06 8GB ATI 4670 1TB HD
