|
|
I have my iTunes collection on my Windows XP box because when I got my iPod I didn't have a Mac. Now I want to move it to my mini so I can sync my iPod from there. It is a mix of my own CDs that I have ripped as well as purchased music from the Apple Music Store. Is there an easy way to do this?
Thanks

And when you sync, does it copy what is on the iPod but not on the computer to that computer and vice versa? In other words, I have a different set of music in iTunes on my mini than on my PC so I'm concerned about losing everything on my iPod and having the mini put just its own collection on the iPod. Does that make any sense???

If the computers are connected by a network, share the itunes folder from the PC. Connect to that folder with the mac. Make sure that in itunes preferences|advanced that the 'copy files to itunes folder' is checked. Then, just drag the files onto itunes and they will be added to your library.
Using the iPod:

You can get a free transfer utility from iLounge.com
That's how I did mine. It worked great. Sorry I can't remember which one I used, but they have user rating on each program at the site.
Good luck. |

Nope...I can't drag anything from the shared list on the Windows PC to my Library on the Mac.
Thanks for the link. I might have to do it that way if I can't find a better solution. I really didn't want to use my iPod to do it -- I just want to copy the music over my network.
Thanks

Bill,
Are you sure it allowed you to copy directly from a Windows version of iTunes to a Mac without using the iPod? I found plenty of programs that will let you copy from the iPod to your computer but nothing that lets you do it without the iPod...
Thanks

That's strange. I actually meant drag the files right onto the open itunes app itself, but it seems you have a different issue. |

I assume that all of your music from your Windows box is on your iPod? If so, refer to this thread. _________________ Computer Engineer
