I've finally got round to installing the Safari 4 beta, o here's my 2 cents:

The installed version of Safari 3.1.2 weighs 62.6 Mb. It's interesting to note that the installed beta4 app weighs only 13.4 Mb although its download package was 31.8 - so where did the other 18.4 Mb go?
Firefox takes up 45.9 Mb of disc space.

I've been using Firefox for a long time so perforce of habit I'm naturally biased, so I ran a side-by-side comparison but there may have been some things I missed. I didn't do a CPU use comparison.

Comments:
No 'open recently closed tabs'
I don't like the tabs on top of the address bar - why can't they just leave things where they were? Does any one belive they applied any user psychology to these things?
I don't like the 'new tab' shortcut opening with the pics of 'top sites'.
Download buttons on pages not responding - possible glitch with the download manager.

I'm not sure about Apple's claims to 'the fastest browser' - nothing can drag stuff down the Internet faster than the narrowest constriction in the route will allow.

Firefox has a much better bookmark management system.

Bottom line:

I'll go with all those who consider the CoverFlow type feature to be just a gimmick.
I think I will stick to Firefox.

I'm back to using Safari as my primary browser, there are a lot of things I like about it. Like most, I don't really care for the tabs on top, but I've gotten used to it.

Has anyone noticed that if you clink on a link within a page or even refresh a page, that page will not start to load until the cursor is moved off that link?

Also, has anyone found a way to move or re-order tabs like is possible in Firefox (not sure if previous Safari versions allowed this).

THanks!!!

If you grab the tab ribs (or whatever they're called) on the right, you can move them to the left or right. You can also drag them off to open a new window.

The ribs? I've tried grabbing the tabs in different locations and it drags the whole window.

Mine didn't work at first for some reason. I think that I just restarted or reset Safari. After that, they worked fine.
