There's a new picture floating around the Internet that supposedly shows the back of the next-generation Mac mini. The configuration of the ports seems to go along with what we've been hearing for months, but I haven't been able to confirm anything. I also think some of the shadowing inside the ports look funny. Maybe I'm just jaded though. It seems like we get a few of these sent to us every month or so. What do you think?

If it's real, it's a funny angle.

Wouldn't the shadows on the vents be the same from this angle? As a photoshop bad-ass myself, it's easy to doc a photo and scale it down to hide the imperfections and this pic looks very lo-rez.

Whatever, I hope they install a better airport & bluetooth antenna in these puppies!

There's something about the Mini-DisplayPort that looks funny to me. The shadow and shape (the left side looks bigger than the right) look out of place. Oh well, I really hope Apple updates the Mac mini soon. It seems like so many people are waiting.

Personally, I think the photo is a fake. I would buy one in a heartbeat though. FW800 and support for dual displays would be too good to pass up. My current Mac mini would then be relinquished to the family room for HTPC. I was going to do it the other way around, but I would rather have dual displays on the desktop.

I would speculate that it is fake, but... even though it is very lowres (camera phone maybe?) it appears to be a very good photoshop job. That of course if it IS fake. I would think the next mini to be black, white or aluminum like the imac.

This would be a nice evolution of the system. I think the picture is totally fake though. Something just seems off with the display ports.

I heard from a friend that Apple would be releasing the new Mac mini towards the middle to end of this month. I'm now hearing that it could slip to the first week of March because of the 17" MacBook Pro delay, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen next week. Apple is really struggling with sales right now, especially on the desktop computer side of things.

IMO opinion that's been 'shopped. I'd like to be proven wrong, with FW800, 5 USB ports and 2 display outputs. It just looks a bit too good for what Apple wants the Mini to be.

At best the image is real and shows a real Mac Mini.

THIS is NOT the NEW MAC MINI.

If anything...it's just a minor upgrade.

Something to push the last boxes out the door...
