What are you listening to now?
with nearly 40 pages is one of the most popular off-topic threads. I thought I'd start a poll to see what happens. The questions may not be perfect, but it is impossible to include all genres and sub-genres.

| Hard and classic rock is my thing. After that, it's like classic motown and the blues. |

I mostly listen to the radio in the car, since I haven't bought an iPod compatible radio for it yet. Tragically Seattle's radio rock stations mostly suck. So I listen to a good jazz station, or the classical station.
At home I just put iTunes on shuffle and let it work most of it's magic. The collection is pretty eclectic.

Your contemporary category seems kind of broad, I listen mostly to electronic ,dance, trance, house, and that sort of music though I do listen to alternative in the car and some others though that's mostly when I'm around other people (it's funny to watch people listen to stuff on my iPod and come across half of the stuff such as a group called Analog Pussy (very good trance music BTW)). _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't ever consider my Musical tastes to be grouped into "contemporary", though that would be the only choice from your given options.
When I hear "Contemporary", I think Brittney Spears or Beyonce, not Thievery Corporation or Buddha Bar.
Most of my music selection would be closer to Aquafire's suggestion! |

Gosh, yes - and beat me about the head with a broken drumstick for forgetting Mor'ram, Gregorian chants, Irish jigs, Scottish bagpipes, Morris dancinig, Indian ragas, Skiffle, Rockabilly, and of course Blue Grass, Red Wheat, Purple Corn, Yellow Blueberry, and me whistling Schubert through a gap in my teeth while kicking the groove on my rain barrel.
genre n. ['ðʒɑːnrə] genres
1. A class of artistic endeavor having a characteristic form or technique. 2. A kind of literary or artistic work.

I went with an eclectic mix. I'll listen to anything that's good. Well, except for rap and hip hop.
BTW: Those lists in your signature are really cool jazzman. What did you use to create them? |

Growing up, I was stuck on R&B/hip hop. My first stint in college got me interested in broadcast communications. Through this, I got the opportunity to work at several radio stations of different genre. This taught me to open my ears to different musical styles. I can't say I listen to it all, because I haven't heard it all and I don't know what all consists of. But I do listen to a lot.
So would it be safe to think the jazzman listens to jazz, or am I way off there? _________________ Mercury TiBook 400MHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Airport
