| i am thinking about getting a mini for at my desk and laptop (refurb black MB)for everything else and that is only about $1800. do any of you have a similar setup, if so how do you like it and which one do you tend to use more? right now i have a windows laptop that i am using dual screen with my 22" monitor but i like using it as a actual laptop without having to unplug 7 cables every time including unscrewing the vga cable that i want to use it while watching tv or on my lap. |

The MacBook is definitely faster since it's a Core2Duo with 4GB of RAM and I have a 7200 RPM HD installed. The mini gets it workout recording music and movies. _________________ 2.5 GHZ i5 Mac Minu 8Gb Ram

I am typing this on my iPhone but, I tend to use my iMac for my main machine. I use all the machines in my signature on a daily basis. They are:
Powermac G3 - as a file server
iMac- majority of my daily computing
Macmini - "public machine" friends & family (my sons main machine)
MacBook - on the road for my company
iMac G3 - light web browsing and email at my couch
iBook G3 - my wifes main machine
My iPhone I use daily to run my business and occasionally check 123MM like I did right now!

I use a mini in the htpc position, and my wife has taken over the Mac Book Pro. The MBP was useful for a proof-of-concept in building out my entertainment system, but plugging and unplugging, along with being a hassle, is also a ticket to broken cables and worse, broken jacks on the laptop. I had an audio jack go bad on an iMac years ago, and I was lucky it was brand new and covered by warranty. They had to replace the whole audio board, because of a defective scrap of metal. If it lasted any longer than it did it would have been seen as damaged rather than defective! _________________ MacMini 2GHz C2D 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD| Panasonic TH-37PX60U | iPhone 3G 16GB

My head hurts when I look at this question..
I want to lie...and say I have only got one...
But sadly, when it comes to using computers...or more importantly....buying them....
I am like a stupid rabbit, caught in the headlights of an on rushing car...
You know what's going to happen...
But that old credit card just hops up to the counter...
WHAM.......
Next thing I know...I'm carrying another computer or portable something home...
