Apple isn't going to officially release these new models until 30 days passes from the Mac mini test drive. This may be the answer why they are holding things up. JMHO _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

Isn't today around 30 days after they ended the test drive?
I know I sound really impatient but this will be my first time using an Apple besides the few short minutes in the apple store. _________________ iMac... comming soon! |

I decided to take my chances today and....I have what the box says I should have, a 1.42GHz. I bought the mid-range model with the combo drive at the Apple store in NH.
I am actually quite fine with this, because I am not a frequent visitor of these discussion/rumor boards. I just ended up here when I was searching for some info about different types of keyboard people use with their minis. That was when I saw the rumors for the upgrade and decided to wait. It basically came down to the fact that life was getting inconvient without my computer, so I decided to take my chances.
I will say that the sales rep in the store told me that one customer did tell them that they received the new mini this past week (I don't know which model) and he also indicated that they had been informed from Apple that they would not be making an official announcement when they had reduced the old stock and only shipped and sold the newer version. Now this may just be what Apple told the stores to get people to buy, instead of what is really going to happen.
Overall, I love my new Mini ' ' |

| Hey Apple! Are you there? Testing 1 - 2 - 3. I am ready to buy a Mac mini when you can guarantee me a 1.5GHz with 64VRAM! Why is this taking so long? |

It's not looking like we are going to see an update today...
Dang! I really want to be a first time Mac user, but I really do not want to purchase a maching that I fear will be updated within a few weeks (months)??
I am going to try and wait another week, but it is painful becasue my current windows machine is about to keel over..
Thoughts on ordering a BTO Mac Mini off the Applestore online? What do you think my chances of are getting the updated mini??

I'm not joking. I'm afraid to place my order without an official announcement. |

Oh, I totally understand not placing the order until it's offically announced. It's the whole "why is it taking so long?" comment that threw me off, like Apple's dragging their feet on the announcement on purpose vs. waiting until their existing older inventory is gone. |

That's ok. I just don't understand what is taking them so long. This has been going on for nearly three weeks now. I am very anxious to get a mini and get the ball rolling. Apple must have really misjudged their inventory or the mini isn't selling that well. |

Not sure if you were being sarcastic...
Ummm. You do realize that Apple has already publicly acknowledged that they are shipping updated mac minis to some buyers, but will not reveal the actual specs, right???

No, it really wasn't sarcasm.
My thoughts are that Apple has run out of some old components (but not all) and has to make some minis with a mix of old and new components. Apple sites have pictures that some new mini owners are sending in of these "special" minis, so Apple acknowledged that they're shipping some mini's with parts that currently exceed the published specs.
How can they announce the mini's with the new specs until they're out of this "mix and match" phase?
If there's another take to this that I'm missing, I'm all ears. |

What about the VRAM, updated BlueTooth, and faster SuperDrives (or whatever the other non-CPU related changes were)? |
