I have no idea what I did, or what I accidentally clicked on, but all of a sudden my beautiful Dell 20" flat panel looks like it's on acid!!! I can barely read stuff on it. The background is completely white and everything looks posterized in psychodelic colors. And noooo , I haven't ingested anything.

I've tried to repair permissions and that doesn't help. I tried powering off and booting up again. It's not the monitor, because while it's booting up I can see the background color that I chose.

I hope someone here knows what I am talking about, or where I need to go to get my beautiful colors back again!!!

Did you change any of your settings in Preferences > Displays? Maybe you accidentally changed your colors setting from Millions to 256. Confused

THANK YOU!!!! The solution wasn't in the Display portion of Preferences, but under 'Universal Access' under 'Display'. Somehow (and I have NO idea how because I wasn't even in the system Preferences) the 'Enhance Contrast' slider was all the way over to maximum. If you want to see what my screen looked like, just move that slider... it will change right before your eyes (but you can easily move it back where it belongs).

Now, in trying to fix this, I have somehow changed the resolution setting. I now have it set at 1064 X 768. Can someone tell me what it should be at (see my display in my sig).

Once again, thank you. What a great group this is. I love my Mac Smile

JB,

According to http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4111&category_id=4009

1680 x 1050 is your resolution.

When I read this I thought you had accidentally hit the little=known key-combination that inverts the video. I know only because my daughter did it once to my old Powerbook by banging on the keys randomly.

You can all try it now:

control + option + command + 8

Very Happy

Yep. Go on, try it. It's fun to do it real fast and tell people around you that you must have caught some kind of Mac virus...
