One for you GhostDawg:
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej: The Jazz King (CD).
Born 1927 in Cambridge, Mas, The King of Thailand is an accomplished sax player and has played with some great names, including such idols as Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Jack Teagarden, James Moody, Benny Carter, Les Brown, Maynard Ferguson, The Preservative Hall Jazz Band, and many more as guest musicians for impromptu sessions. Until his health began to fail recently, he held regular jam sessions in his palace in Hua Hin on Saturday nights.
An impressive musical career rivaled by few, his compositions and recording are published and have received many of the highest international musical accolades. "The Jazz King" CD performed by jazz icon Larry Carlton and the all-star jazz musicians reached #1 on the CD Warehouse top 25 chart in the international category as well as topping other music charts in Thailand - obviously.
All the impressive net proceeds go to the Royal Project Foundation for the welfare and benefit of the hill tribes.
Absolute essential reading for Jazz fans:
