Roxio Announces Toast 10 Titanium

Roxio today announced the release of Toast 10 Titanium, the latest edition of their disc burning software for Mac OS X. According to the company, Toast has been the standard for burning and ease of use for over 10 years. It's the "easiest and fastest" way to burn your music, video, photo and data files on to CD, DVD or Blu-ray Disc for both Mac and PC. New features in Toast 10 Titanium include:

- Extract clips from any DVD-Video and convert to the format of your choice
- Save web video to enjoy on TV and on-the-go
- Archive AVCHD camera footage to disc with a single click
- Build your MP3 library with automatic capture and tagging of Internet audio
- Convert audiobook CDs for playback on your iPod
- Transfer video from your Mac to your TiVo DVR to enjoy on your TV
- Enjoy over 20 new stunning DVD and Blu-ray Disc menu styles
- Sync up folders bi-directionally - between multiple computers, folders or external drives

Roxio also introduced Toast 10 Titanium Pro. It includes all the features of the standard version, plus a bundle of third-party applications for enhanced photo editing, audio editing and music creation.

Both versions of Toast 10 Titanium require Mac OS X 10.5 or higher and work with both PPC and Intel-based Macs. Toast 10 Titanium has a suggested retail price of $100. Users of Toast 9 can upgrade for $80. Toast 10 Titanium Pro sells for $150.

Toast is a nice piece of software, but Roxio needs to do way better on the upgrade pricing. I'm not seeing much that makes me want to upgrade from Toast 9 either.

I'm glad I didn't buy Toast 9, I was going to buy it last week cause of Blu-ray capabilities (I got an external BD burner for X'Mas), I figured I'd wait to see if Apple announced support for it

...I agree with Zuma, that is high for an upgrade price. It seems like they raised the retail price by $50 too?? Good thing I get a student discount (Probably only $10, at least it covers taxes) .

I'm still on Toast 8. I never really felt compelled to upgrade to Toast 9. Mostly because of the crappy upgrade pricing you guys have already mentioned.

I'm more concerned with the fact that I'm paying for tivo software that PC users get for free. It's actually upsetting that I need to spend that kind of money to remove shows off my tivo for iphone layback. I'm not mad at Roxio but, i don't need 100 disc burning software when here are cheaper alternatives out there.

I'm embarrassed to say how I upgraded to Toast 9.

Yeah, I think the price for Toast has gotten a little out of hand. You're getting close to the price of a full OS or office suite at $100-$150 smackers. That being said, it's still the best burning application for the Mac. I would probably fork over the cash if I didn't already own an earlier version.
