It seems like Microsoft has realized Vista is a failure and can't be fixed, so Windows 7 comes out in about a year. I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about the future Microsoft OS?
As for me, I love Mac's, but I do work in the IT field, and am forced to use Windows XP/Vista at work. I personally like Vista more than XP, since I like learning new stuff, and it allows for more than XP allows for. I rarely use Windows at home, and use OS X when working from home, or remotely (I even use it at work to do stuff PC's can't do). |

What's Windows 7? How will it be better than XP/Vista?
Now that I think about it, what the %!?%@ is it with Microsoft and how they name their OS's....
DOS
Windows 3.1
Windows 98
Windows 2000
Windows NT
Windows ME
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows 7
Now, I know I've either missed some or have them out of order but, I don't really use/like/need Windblows so it's of no real concern of mine...
Let's look at Mac OS.....
System 7
OS 8
OS 9
OS X (still a 10)
Seems to be some rhyme and reason here.... no? _________________ Automotive Digital Marketing

| No thanks. XP + Fusion sort of have me covered on the Windows side of things. I will say that Windows 7 looks interesting though. I like the new taskbar and some of the other stuff I've been reading about. Even the new Paint program looks nice. People are also saying that it's easier on system resources. I know that's a big plus over Vista. My wife runs Vista on a Dell laptop and it's constantly thrashing around from SuperFetch and Defender. You must disable those services. It also seems like every time you turn in on there's another update being offered. |

I remember when it was WinCE, WinME & WinNT which came out to be CEMENT...too heavy for me!
Seriously, sometimes the job will let some of us install it on our home machines, so that will be the only way I get it. _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

| I hate to admit this, but I'm sort of looking forward to messing around with Windows 7. I'll probably buy it the first week it comes out and install it with Boot Camp or Fusion. |

I may or may not already be running a leaked copy of the Windows 7 beta. |

I'm sort of looking forward to it too, I don't have a PC anymore, just a NetBook. I decided to go all Mac last year ...so I might install it on the NetBook or just run it on Fusion. |

It was a leaked beta of Vista that helped in my decision to switch to Mac OS
I hope Windows 7 is more promising than Vista was. _________________ Phil

You may be coming back for a second look, so don't laugh too hard. I think this is what Microsoft really intended for Vista with the GUI. Windows 7 is actually pretty slick that way. It's not a resource hog liek Vista either.

Windows 7 is cool, but I can't get my 30GB Zune to work with it. In fact, I can't get it to work at all today.

Most of what I've seen is the same as Vista, but there are official reports of improved battery life on laptops and increased performance. The GUI on the other hand, I've heard nothing about it being changed yet. It doesn't matter to me because I may or may not pay for a copy of Windows 7 unless it's amazing. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

I'll be sticking with the Mac OS, even if Windows 7 is amazing.
I'm more confident that the Mac platform will always be a couple of steps ahead. _________________ Phil
