Damn, whats this all about? Has to be more than just the current economic conditions and what they stated in this release. And Jobs isn't doing the Keynote??? Hmmmm, bet the rumors are going to start again. What will MacWorld be without Apple? Will it even exist? Oh well, glad I get to be a part of the last one...sucks that I didn't start going before last year. _________________ Mercury TiBook 400MHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Airport

Dang, I never got to see a Stevenote. I guess they'll still have special events, but an average joe like myself isn't going to be invited to one. Macworld was our only hope Obi-Wan. And here come the rumors about Steve's health again. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

I'm with Trustory. You'd think Jobs would want to have his last hooray on the grand stage. Man, this is like the end of an era. I'm speechless. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

+1
I can see why they are pulling out of Macworld though, they have started to do a lot of Town House meetings to show off new stuff. Plus it must cost a lot to be in the Macworld events.
Maybe Apple will just start slipping faster CPUs into their computers as they become available. That would be nice improvement instead of having to wait for these events. |

That's fine with me. Waiting around for incremental processor upgrades has always been silly. They should slip them in as a build-to-order option as soon as possible. Just keep the prices realistic like Dell. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I hate to scare everyone, but isn't this one of the seven signs of the apocalypse? |

I mean this in the nicest possible way but I'm guessing from the statement your new to Apple and the Mini would be your first machine? _________________ MacBook 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB 7200rpm HDD, OS X 10.6.5

I know this doesn't prevent Steve from giving the speech at special events in the future. Maybe they just want to downplay the importance of Macworld going forward. That said, something seems strange here with the timing. I hope Steve's health hasn't slipped or something. That would be really sad. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

Exactly what I was thinking [timing seems very strange]--I hope Steve's doing well.... |

Nope, I'm sitting in front of an old iMac running 10.4.11. I just don't care who gives the keynote this time around. I don't mean this to be disrespectful to Steve Jobs or his health. I just want to see Apple move on some bloody computers. Him being gone from this event could actually be good sign for those of us waiting for something new on the desktop front. In a way, the presence of Steve Jobs has become all about the iPhone, iPod and trendy devices like the Apple TV. The last major event were Phil Schiller was at the helm they announced new iMacs. It wasn't a sexy announcement, but it was a computer. And that's what I'm looking for right now. |

I think that's exactly what Apple is trying to do. They can also save money by doing smaller events on their own. It's not like Apple doesn't get enough free PR anyways. The company that I work for would love to have Apple's level of free PR. I wouldn't like it though. I would most assuredly be out of a job working on POP stuff. As for the health and well-being of Steve Jobs, I think that is pure speculation at this time. I wish him well though. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini
