Recently I played 2 demo's with great joy on an Intel Mac Mini 2,0 Ghz
Warcraft III
Plays terrific, smooth graphics and nice gameplay,..however the game is not THAT demanding.
- Lara Croft Anniversary
This game is a challenge for the mini. I read that the GMA chip on the Intel Mini's was not able to play this one. Off course I wanted to see for myself and I installed the demo. Amazingly the game plays very well,..even will all details on a 1024x768 ppi resolution, with water reflections and all enabled. I tried to game it on 1280x1024 and it still works very well,..however slightly little lag,...but it didn't really bother me.
I'm not a huge gamer,..so my demands are not that high,.. _________________ Mac Mini Intel Core2Duo 2,00 Ghz - MacOS X Leopard

I dabbled in emulators for a bit awhile back. I put MacMame on my 1.5GHz PPC Mini and it does ok. It still has the 512 RAM, everything stock, and some of the games freeze or stutter sometimes.
Stupkid posted a link to MameOSX. Has anyone run both? Does MameOSX run better than MacMame? Does one or the other run better on PPC or Intel macs? I wouldn't mind getting back into some games. _________________ Young Buck 2.53Ghz Intel Core 2 duo (late 2009), Enhanced USB Monica.

this thread is super old.
i have a 1.66ghz core duo, and i play both osx games and games on windows vista ultimate.
i'm very happy playing grand theft auto: san andreas on 1280x960 with graphic detail set to low.
grand theft auto: vice city of course can run full out everything.
but the game that really has me wondering what the mac mini can do is max payne 2. i just played it on 1024x768 with all graphic details on high, minus the anti-aliasing. (i heard the mac mini can't do that, but i haven't really tried.)
max payne 2 is a pretty intense game, i thought. shadows, advanced ragdoll physics, each bullet is models, etc.
i wanna find out if F.E.A.R. will run, but i very much doubt it will. maybe battlefront too.
---
on the osx side, i've played unreal tournament 2004 with satisfying graphics, and i will say, i hate lag, i can't stand it, so all the games i play, there is no noticeable lag. but UT 2004 is the most graphically intense game i've played on the OSX side.
halo didn't work for me, i tried it... _________________ Mac Mini Core Duo
