Dear Admin and Mods.

I have clocked in more than 1000 posts; so I kinda feel like I know the forum a little bit more that my early days..

With that thought in mind..

I have been thinking about Linux again...(yes, I am a Linuxaholic...)..

Can I re~ask for a Mac / Linux forum...?

Some of us...are a little nutz about that cute little Penguin.

In fact, some of the more looney ones, (like me, Fox, Dungeon, Ghosty and Hackers...where are you Hacks...? ) may actually believe that Linux has a future in relation to Macs specifically, and PC's in general..

And what is more, the addiction is spreading...re Kramer and co...

So how about it...guys...?

Whats it going to take...?

A Fist full of $$$$$$$$$$ or something like this....

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa1RCg-Ccp0&feature=related

A Mac - Linux area should be good for anyone interetested in Mac and Linux.

Fingers crossed..

Your forums' Aussie mate.

Aqua..

*** Oh and Ben Tex too...

Count me in as another Linux nerd. I think a Linux sub-forum would be nice!

Good idea, if you ask on some Linux forums you can get flamed to hell, we actually read a post on a Fedora forum at SILUG once where it got kind of interesting.

Charles and Brian are away on business this week. I'll run it past them when they get back.

Thanks Glen.

I reckon, a nice friendly enviroment for mac linux guys would be just the thing.

Dungeon is right. By comparison; other more geeky Linux forums, can sometimes be hard on newbies.

So by comparison, this would be a great little intro forum, where we Mac guys can dip their toes into the Linux world.

I might add that a new PowerPC Linux website/forum (PPCLinux.info) started with 123macmini as a model community it is striving to emulate, so the least we could do is have a little Linux forum on our own.

My only potential concern is whether separating it will keep others of our group from reading it and maybe getting interested. I really enjoy getiing new participants in our Linux threads. I wonder whether some of our more recent participants were originally interested in Windows on BootCamp and then got interested in Linux reading our posts there. Anyone care to comment?

Fox.

To be honest, I have already registered a site called DistroMac.com, but it is moribund at the moment.

The name is spun out of the title : DistroWatch.com, which is the last word in relation to all things Linux.

Right now, I haven't got the brains, the time, or the cash to set up a forum.

But if anyone is interested in helping out, I would be more than happy to listen to proposals.

Oops, obviously my last post was not clear. I was not looking for an off-site Linux forum; I was referring to the idea of spinning off a Linux forum here on 123macmini from the BootCamp forum, as you requested, aqua. I don't know what else to call it other than a "forum" because "topic" seems to refer to a particular post and the responses for it (e.g., "topic review" on the site lists the whole thread).

It all sounds great. A Mac/Linux section would be real good for business! Laughing

For some reason, linux just won't go away, so you may as well have a forums for it! It runs on everything from a floppy/thumb drive to a mainframe system.

Now if I could only get it to burp my baby and wash my car!

I agree, it would be a good idea.
I wouldn't have to read all the linux posts then Laughing

only kidding guys, Razz

I have played with Linux in my PC days, but I've never tried it on the Mac, it would be handy to have all the linux related posts in one area.

I am just getting started exploring Linux myself and would love to see a section for it here. After all Linux and Mac OS X both come from the same UNIX underpinnings Wink

Sorry Fox,

I did misunderstand you.

While I have had that site of mine registered for a while now, I would rather keep it in house, here in our beloved 123 forums...

Lets hope Glenn & Brian give us the thumbs up... Cool
