I've got a retired G5 with Dual 1.8Ghz CPU's. It used to be my main workcenter but I've since moved on to a new Macbook pro. I'm trying to figure out something creative to do with it. I was thinking of a media center but not sure.
Any suggestions? |

I think a mini would be better for a media center, as you would have to add more stuff, like the IR for a remote to have a media center type system.
Otherwise, my conversion to mini is almost complete, and I can't think of anything for your G5. Sorry!

Maybe a little big for a media center, but what about your media server? You can have it away out of sight and have it stream your content throughout your house. Get an AppleTV if you don't want to fork over the cash for a mini, and slap a few extra hard drives in the G5.
Or take your pick of Folding@home or SETI@home, put that power to some good use while it is sitting idle. |
