Apple Releases 2.1 Software Update for iPhone

Apple released the 2.1 software update for the iPhone this morning. According to the company, the update contains many bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
- Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
- Significantly better battery life for most users
- Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
- Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
- Faster installation of 3rd party applications
- Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications Improved performance in text messaging
- Faster loading and searching of contacts
- Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
- Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
- Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
- Genius playlist creation
The iPhone 2.1 software update weighs in at approximately 238MB. It's available through iTunes.

Good deal, but my backups feel just as slow.
It's too early to tell about the better battery life. I have my fingers crossed though. |

My iPhone feels somewhat faster, but I don't notice much of a difference with backup speeds. I haven't had a chance to roam around, so I can't comment on the rest of the stuff. I did notice they changed the 3G icon. At this point, I'm just hoping the battery life claim is true. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)
