17" iMac G5 (pre-iSight), 1.8GHz, 1GB ram, superdrive, airport card. The only thing wrong with it (aside from all the stickers I peeled and cleaned off of it) was a dead hard drive. Have one of my spare hdd's in it right now and have a new one (along with 2GB of ram) on order.
The screen is perfect (beautiful!), wireless works great, cosmetically looks like new after a good cleaning. Been running a fresh install of Leopard for the last couple of days and has been rock solid. _________________ -=iMav=-

Even if it was sold for parts they could have got a couple hundred for it (maybe) but to just throw it away? _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

That's seriously impressive.
Are you sure you don't live on Treasure Island.

Soon after I bought my first mini's (two 1.25Ghz G4's and one 1.42Ghz G4) back in early 2005, I purchased a 17" G5 iMac for my wife. Early last year, I gave my wife my 1st gen Macbook and gave the G5 to a friend of mine (who really wanted a Mac, but would never be able to afford one (if he didn't have hand-me-downs and his work laptop, he'd have nothing)).
That 17" G5 iMac had a combo drive and this one has a superdrive. So I'm basically getting back better than what I gave away.
(my wife now uses a 15.4" MBP, but that is another story) _________________ -=iMav=-

| Nice find! I bet there are bunches of iMacs sitting around with nothing but a dead hard drive in the dump. The average person just doesn't know how to pull or check them. |

You lucky SOB. If you ever find a Mac Pro, send it my way!
By the way, how did you stumble upon it? |

One issue with this certain dumps depnding on where you live have laws in place no salvaging so be carefull.
A great place to check is at night go check your local apartment dumpsters my friends and i have rescued nearly 25 imacs out of dumpsters and we just donated them to our local computer bank chairity.
So like i said look in apartment dumpsters.
You would be amazed what you find. |

400GB hdd and 2GB ram arrived from NewEgg today. Upgraded iMac is quite snappy for an "old G5". _________________ -=iMav=-
