AMD's new Athlon 64 2000+ LV at 1GHz beat the Intel Atom at 1.6GHz, also the AMD chipset (780G) and CPU combo is more energy efficent, plus it's easier to passively cool. The CPU will be a regular AM2 socket so it could be used in a desktop easily (but the starting price is somewhat high at around $90).

High at $90...
Really...
I would have thought that's a hell of a lot cheaper than many Core 2 Duo's..
I might be wrong, as it might not be a fair comparison.

Ps.. Are you intending to make up a pc of your own based around this new AMD ? _________________ Of the four X systems in the world.

Compared to the price of the Intel Atom board with soldered CPU it's high, and no, if I had money to spend on it I would consider it and probably wouldn't still since all the boards are micro-ATX that are reasonably priced so it wouldn't be small like I would like it to be. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

Whoa...there ... DJ.
Now you got my attention.....
Since when has the CPU been soldered on ?
Surely not...
That's gotta be kinda dumb for Intel.
Why on earth would they want to do such a thing...?
I would have thought locking it down to a CPU is going to limit the market appeal overall...
It makes me wonder what their reasoning would be...?
In the meantime, it leaves me a bit puzzled.
Oh well
Maybe you can explain it to me.
Cheers
