Hi!
I have a small problem.
I connected a usb hard drive from a friend of mine, then i could see the drive in Finder and i can see some folders but others are missing.
I can't even copy files to the disk.
I checked Get info and it says only reading.
Can you help me? Thanks in advance!!

Is it an NTFS formatted drive? If so, Tiger can only read it.

Yes. it's ntfs formated.
So fat32 is the best compatible type for bot mac and win?
But why i can't access all the folders? just some...
This is a very acquard situation.

Mac OS X support of the proprietary MS NTFS format is weak at best. You definitely want to go the FAT32 route. I have shared between my PC and Mac using FAT32 without any issues.

Or hook the drive up on a pc on your network, share it, and access it that way from your mini. Should be a painless solution, without reformatting drives or anything like that.

Of course, requires you having a PC with Windows and a network Smile

I was in the same boat you were, except that made it easy on myself. Bought an enclosure, copied the files from the drive, formatted it into the mac file system (HFS+? HPS+? I don't recall the proper acronym) and copied my files back. I shared the drive on my network and windows and Mac can both use my nice high speed USB2 hard drive.

Thanks for your help guys!!!
I'll format the drive in fat32, it's the simpliest way.

About the network between mac and pc, i tried to connect by wifi but directly (don't have a router yet... Confused ) and i couldn't. The pc connects with the mac but i can't see anything... I know i'm doing something wrong...
Do you guys know if theres any tutorial or something about connecting a mac and a pc wirelless without a router??
My main objective with this is to share internet with the pc.
Thanks, you are very helpful!!! Very Happy Wink
