So to many of you this will come as no surprise. I have nearly dedicated my entire time/resources to gaining knowledge of the proper ways to rip/edit/repair all sorts of Audio and Video files/media.
Use this thread to give/ask for advice. I will try my best to answer as many of the questions as possible but, will only advise if I have personal knowledge. No speculation here.

Keep as many versions of MTR you have free old ones & the ones you have to pay for update. It could take a combo of MTR & optical drive depending on your movie, you have to find that combo. Thats why you never delete old versions of MTR.

Use Class A media NOT Maxell?, Memorex, TDK & SONY (its hard to find class A from Sony) I like Verbatim media.
Media guide.
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Also i have a total of four optical drives Lacies & Pioneers. I try not to use the MatSHITa drives that come with Macs. I think they get hung up and keep searching, until they burn out when they run into zero cells on a disc.
For iPod, PSP, SD flash: i like Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus
http://www.kaisakura.com/fortytwovx.php
HandBrake 2nd
Stay away from SONY DVD players. SONY is one of the top companies in the distribution of movies and CDs & are known for engineering their recorders to reject copyrighted material. Thats why i avoid SONY media.
I only use Mac Apps, so i have no input using Windows burning SW on a Mac running Windows.
Oh, for burning software i use either Toast or DVD2oneX (Great)
REMBER, there are copyright laws!!

*Echoes*
Does anyone use Toast 9?
Im using Toast 8 on two Macs, anyone suggest upgrading to Toast 9?
I like 8 if everything is going well, when backing up my DVDs
DVD2oneX is great but i dont always need to use it, and its not om my iMac
I keep getting a update message, and was wondering if i need to.
Any thoughts? _________________ iMac 3.06ghz 27" 4gb ram C2D 1TB/LaCie d2 1T

I have Toast 9 Titanium. It works good but, is most likely not needed. Toast 8 worked just fine for me as well. I upgrade for reasons that escape me at the moment. It was needed at the time. . .
It may have had something to do with EyeTV but, I can't be certain. _________________ Automotive Digital Marketing

Yea, 8 works fine. IMO, it was so much better then "Popcorn" now there up to Popcorn3 I haven't looked into that, i don't think its needed.
EyeTV, Im thinking about it, maybe in the fall. Hows that working for you? _________________ iMac 3.06ghz 27" 4gb ram C2D 1TB/LaCie d2 1T

EyeTV has been a pretty spotty performer for me -
the only kernel panics I've had have been from EyeTV, plus I get lots of "EyeTV quit unexpectedly" errors. _________________ MacMini 2GHz C2D 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD| Panasonic TH-37PX60U | iPhone 3G 16GB

Ok, I have a problem with copying movie files from my Mini external hard drive to my Linux PC. It starts out copying then around the 1/4 mark seems to hang.
I'm not sure which one could be the reason why it won't copy but I can copy from Linux to the mini external HD.
This seems to start happening since I've setup my new C2D PC.
Any ideas why this is happening?

ghostdawg, You copied i protected DVD using your Mac to a External HD, is this correct?
Now you cant get the Video_TS folder to copy on your PC?
What app did you use to rip the movie to your external HD? _________________ iMac 3.06ghz 27" 4gb ram C2D 1TB/LaCie d2 1T

Right, I can't get the folder or an ISO file to copy from the External hard drive to my PC.
Mactheripper is what I use to rip it. _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

Were there any MTR warnings after you ripped the movie?
Does the Video_TS folder play on your Mac? _________________ iMac 3.06ghz 27" 4gb ram C2D 1TB/LaCie d2 1T

The one's with error about Padding or similar wouldn't rip completely. These all are good, I can watch them using the Mini.
And this is using a wireless router from the PC to the Mini. Like I mention, I can copy from the PC to the mini, I just can't seem to copy large files from the mini to the PC. _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

So its a problem with the PC reading the TS file. I dont know anything about PCs.
If you want to try to narrow down the problem. Since you took off the protection, i would use Toast and burn the movie to a disc. Set it for Mac & PC then see if you can copy the Disc into the PC.
If you have Nero on the PC try dragging the video_TS folder into it. _________________ iMac 3.06ghz 27" 4gb ram C2D 1TB/LaCie d2 1T

Ghostdawg, what file format did you use on the new Linux install? ext2, ext3, etc. Perhaps your problem is of a file size nature. What distro are you running?
It would seem to me if you can copy from the linux box to the mac but not the other way, it would be an issue on the linux side, not the mac side.
This is, of course, speculation. I know enough about linux to be dangerous! _________________ Automotive Digital Marketing

Using ext3 which isn't a problem with file size limits. Well it happen using latest PC build with Debian. I also have Mandriva installed I'll try that next to see if same thing happens.
I don't remember this happen with my other system, but that HD went bad.
