Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Posted by: Charles
Apple has released the HP Printer Driver 1.1 via its Software Update utility and on the Web. According to the company, the HP Printer Driver Update includes the latest drivers for printers you have used on your system. The update will only be visible in Software Update if the printer is connected to your computer or a print queue has been created for an earlier version. The HP Printer Driver 1.1 weighs in at 405.1MB. It requires Mac OS X 10.5.3 or later.

Coming in at 212MB here. I think it's nice having support for every HP printer under the sun. |

Lol... almost half a gig download for a printer driver... Oh the ludicrousiditiness of it all. That has to be a typo. The 405.1 MB part, not ludicrousiditiness.
Apple... please... focus some of that creative energy into a Mac Mini update!!!
I'll stick with my Canon printer and 10.4.11 for now. |

Good luck. I think all of that creative energy will be flowing towards the iPhone for the next billion years. |

Only 52.3 MiB and I have a LaserJet 2550L and LaserJet 3015.
Maybe the heavier updates are for inkjets? _________________ Mac mini 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz/8 GiB)

Don't ask me. I'm sharing two printers through a new AEBS. I was thinking it's more of a Intel vs. PPC thing. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

| The open source driver I have does OK: Gutenprint v5.1.3 and I think 5.2.x for Mac OSX is out. Is there any advantage to the new Apple drivers? For older printers it seems unlikely that there's much improvement. No? |
