Apple Releases Mac OS X Update for MobileMe
Thursday, July 10, 2008
Posted by: Glenn
Apple has released the Mac OS X Update for MobileMe via its Software Update utility. According to the company, the Mac OS X Update for MobileMe is recommended for users running Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 and includes general system fixes that enhance your Mac for MobileMe. After the update is installed, you'll be able to sign into your account from a new MobileMe pane in System Preferences. The Mac OS X Update for MobileMe weighs in at 8.30MB.
[Update: 1] According to Apple, the MobileMe transition is underway but is taking longer than expected. With the exception of the MobileMe web apps, all of the following services are now available: Mail, iDisk, Sync, iChat, Back to My Mac, and all published pages including Galleries and iWeb sites. The MobileMe web apps will be available as soon as possible.
[Update: 2] July 11, 2008 - 6:40 AM EST: The MobileMe web apps have been up and running for at least two hours now. It looks like MobileMe is finally live.

It's not showing up for me. Do you need to have an active account?

I think MobileMe went live for like an hour and then they pulled it. Maybe they pulled the update as well. Your guess is as good as mine? _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

It doesn't look good so far. How would you like to be the MobileMe project leader reporting to Steve Jobs right about now? Not me.... _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

Thanx!
That seemed to work and to install the update.
HOWEVER, when I went to SysPrefs and tried to use MM, it reported a "Can't Connect to Server" ERROR. This could be related to the fact that the MM website is still not active (undergoing "Maintenance"). |
