Do you want to know what I think the Apple TV really needs? A better remote control. One with buttons that takes directly to some of the sections and with some sort of feedback. Maybe something like the Sonos or Harmony remotes, or maybe just in form of software for the iPhone or iPod touch. I just don't like using the little white one anymore. Plus, I'm like losing it all the time. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I use my Harmony 880 to control my Mac mini. It turns on the mini changes TV to correct input & turns on the AV receiver.
BUT, it works like the Apple remote Pause & menu buttons control the mini, volume button controls the AV receiver.
Harder to loose and works all the activities. _________________ iMac 3.06ghz 27" 4gb ram C2D 1TB/LaCie d2 1T

That's one of my gripes about the Apple remote. It's never around when you need it (last night comes to mind). I'm hoping when Apple releases that iTunes remote software for the iPhone and iPod touch that it works with the Apple TV as well. Other than buying a Harmory 880 or 550, I think it's my best hope. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

I'm not that familiar with the interface, but I'd love having a touch screen. The Harmony One is still pretty expensive though. How much did you pay for yours? _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

Ok, where's my currency converter?
I'm seeing them for around $200 on this side of the pond. I would love to have one, but that's a little more than I'm willing to spend. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

The mini Apple remote never leaves the shelf its on. Its a HTPC.
If will get lost in the couch, the 880 does, but its easy to find.
The remote for our iMac uses a magnet to stick to the iMacs side.
We would have lost that a long time ago.
The Apple remote has steel in it, i have to get some magnetic tape & put it on the inside of the TV stand, so i could put the minis remote out of view & know where it is _________________ iMac 3.06ghz 27" 4gb ram C2D 1TB/LaCie d2 1T

Thumbs up on the Remote app for the iPhone. Perhaps most useful, it let's you use the iPhone's touchscreen keyboard for entering search terms instead of the worse-than-hunt-n-peck method built into the UI, and the keyboard pops up automatically when you arrive at a search screen.
Offtopic: Hey Tales, you a longtime Yes fan? I was supposed to see them this August, but Andersen got some throat ailment. Haven't seen them in a decade or more, last time was in the ABW&H tour. |

Yea, i had a few tickets to see them also. I seen Jon in March with the school of rock all stars. He was in rare form, his wife wasn't there. Outside he said they were going to tour for the 40th anniversary, it seemed odd that the 35th was much bigger & Rick was at that one. This would have ben his son on keyboards.
I haven't missed many yes shows since 1977.
