Microsoft Releases Remote Desktop Client 2 for Mac

Microsoft today announced the final release of its Remote Desktop Connection Client 2 for Mac after being in beta for the past year. The software lets you connect to a Windows-based computer and work with programs and files on that computer from your Macintosh computer. It also features a redesigned user interface, improved customization options, and the ability to connect to multiple Windows-based computers at the same time. You can learn more about these features and what else is new here. The Remote Desktop Connection Client 2 for Mac is available as a free download from Microsoft's website. It weighs in at 7.66MB.

I messed around with it earlier today. I have to give Microsoft (those motherf#$%#$s) some props. It works really well. In fact, it might be the best thing they've done for the Mac in a while. Now get back to work on Office 2008! There's still a lot to be done there.  |

Fortunately this program allows me to work at home a bit and spend less time in the office. Hopefully RDC2 lets me continue to do the same.

Have you ever tried CoRD? I don't depend on these for a living, but I think it feels much faster. |

Don't be too impressed. Wait until you need to use it to access more than one windows desktop or when the first desktop you access isn't the last desktop you connected to. Little things maybe, but the sort of little things that work properly in the windows version.
Hopefully, they will have fixed mouse stability in this release, then maybe I won't need to fire up a windows VM to run a stable working version of this software. Maybe I should try CoRD. |

I have yet to use CoRD. RDC has been stable and fast for me over the past two years I've had to use it.
